Reading Connections

Reading is so much more than simply hearing a story; it truly has endless benefits. One of the most rewarding benefits is connection; reading connects parent to child, child to teacher, classmate to friend, siblings, strangers, grandparents, and so on… November is National Children’s Book Month celebrating the importance of reading books, nursery rhymes, and fairy tales while promoting connection during reading.
It is not always easy to find the time to read in our hectic daily lives with children, but some creativity and routine can go a long way. Make reading before bed a routine and a priority. Add books rather than videos to your child’s device. Create a special reading nook. Allow children to fall asleep listening to sleep stories. Read a book in the morning, it might just peak enough attention to pull them from bed. Be okay with pausing household tasks to read. Store books in several rooms.
Share books you love to read as well as the ones they love to read (over and over and over and over again!).

Read. Dream. Share.

Grateful for Books!

If I told you that in 10 to 20 minutes a day you can support a child’s cognitive development, improve language skills, increase academic success, increase concentration and discipline, and improve imagination and creativity all while developing a special bond - would you ask how? It’s simple: read, just read, read to your children. Thanksgiving, Native American culture, voting, and nursery rhymes make for some wonderful books.
Enjoy the following books appropriate for grades Kindergarten through second while supporting your students development. All books can be found on Amazon!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving filled with wonderful books!
